Two empty crates of bottles so the first priority was to have some breakfast and then head up towards Coxen Hole to refill the beer cellar. There were a few groceries on the shopping list as well. Wicked day for traffic as there were four cruise ships in port today with a total load somewhere over 10,000 people, so the main road was humming with cars and busses. Made it to the Cerveceria for the beer and a few flats of coke, then we continued up to French Harbour to give the ATM's a try there. Glen has tried just about all of them within our driving area without success. There are two banks in the mall, one of which has been good to me in the past. Went to bank 1 and failed miserably. The worst part about some of these ATM's is that the first choice is Language. You press English and then it carries on in Spanish. Does anyone know what the spanish words are for cash withdrawl? I think we tried depositing a cheque and then taking out a loan before we gave up on that one. Went across the street and tried bank 2, which hasn't worked so well before. Swiped the card, hit English and voila, we get English. A few more keystrokes and out comes the money. We're happy campers.
Groceries at Eldons, rum at Plaza Mar, and lunch at Blue Bahia, where we wisely shared a meal, based on out past experiences with the serving sizes. Back to the house and down to the water for some snorkelling time. Nothing really new, two scorpionfish, a few lionfish, one nice trunkfish, a spider crab, and a huge lobster.
The plan was for BBQ pork chops with some fried potatoes and cauliflower with cheese sauce. Just as we were ready to start cooking, the power went out. BBQ is on so it's getting close to useable temperature, but there is no way we're cooking the vege's etc on this little charcoal BBQ. We wait it out for awhile and finally decide to cook the chops and have them with salad. Turns out fine although we missed the prime heat on the briquettes, so we kinda slow roasted the chops. I was impressed with the quality of the meat from Bulk Gourmet. Very good pork.
We're sitting eating by flashlight and bemoaning our grief. There is no breeze tonight, AC is out, fans don't work, it's dark, we're hot and sticky, when we recall that out last internet connection showed something about a storm warning for home. Somehow it just didn't seem to be too bad after all. Finished eating, went out to the deck, listened to some tunes on the Ipod and speaker and then the power came back on. Game of dice that I failed miserablly at, and now one by one we're fading away to the bedrooms.
No plans at the moment for tomorrow, a few showers are in the forecast. A little relief from the sun might actually be a good thing. I'll get some pictures up for tomorrow.....
