Catamaran Day

We had a fantastic day today but first a quick recap of yesterday. Did two morning dives, Seaquest and West End wall. Both were nice dives, Seaquest was almost right out from the house, several sand plains with channels over to the wall. West End wall was a drift dive very similar to Pablos Place. Best picture of the day was a Green Moray that was out swimming and then ducked into a cave. I couldn't get down to him so extended my arms as far as I could and then took a hopeful type picture that turned out pretty good.

Looking very menacing

Glen and Mandy walked down to West Bay in the afternoon, Eillen and I stayed back so that we could skype Melissa for her birthday after Taryn got home from school. Taryn was quite talkative on skype but Ellyce still hasn't quite figured it out. Her only comment was to whisper to Mom "Is Grandpa naked?" I guess she wasn't ready for the shirtless look. 2 for 1 pizza night in West Bay then a quick walk home on the beach, after we had heard of a holdup in broad daylight a day or two ago. No encounters for us.

Up early this morning for our 8:15 pickup for the catamaran. We had a really full van, with three guys in West Bay, our four, four more in West End, and two more girls on the way. There were two more waiting at the boat when we got there, all in all a really fun group, so many laughs and fantastic food/drink.

Heading to the first snorkel stop

They have added a new snorkel stop, so we did get something new. As always, lots of color and variety with the snorkels. Most of us saw a nice southern stingray at the second stop although he was down a bit deep when I saw him. Mandy took on a dare and did the leap off the front platform, I had my camera on continuous mode so have a nice series which is too much to post here, but there certainly was a big splash at the end.

We pulled back ino the harbour at Oakridge, said our good byes to Ed and Julie, then one of the crew (Manson) took a few of us down to the shrimp plant where we all picked up a few bags of freah shrimp at $4 per pound. Had a fun ride home with lots of ribbing going towards Gerry after he leaned on a policia motorbike and knocked it off it's stand. They were standing right there but he caught it before it fell... So much fun.

Got home, put some lotion on the sunburns, did a stir fry with some of our shrimp, watched some Olympics, and just generally mellowed out. Everyone had a great day and we're all fading one by one now.

Beer run tomorrow, book a couple more dives, and just generally do nothing. Could get used to this, especially when I see the s'toon weather forecast.
