Had another great Tuesady evening at Tranquil Seas for their tapas andd tunes night. The food was as good as we remembered it, we had a double order of clams, a duck walnut pear salad, garlic mushrooms, and bacon wrapped asparagus and figs. Eileen had a monkey lala which was large and good. Lots of people therre that we knew, the table beside us was our Conneticut friends, which started off quite humurous. They are facebook friends with Dylaina, who must have sent the our blog link so Karen has been following the story. When we first met them two years ago we never caught their names so we always refered to them as Conneticut. Acutally Eileen who is sometimes geographically challenged, would usually refer to them as Ohio, but I think she's gotten their location right now. Anyway, I wrote in an earlier blog this year that we'd ran into Conneticut in the Houston airport, so when they sat down Karen said, "you do know that we're Ralph and Karen, don't you?" We had a good laugh about that. Another table of six was from Manitoba, and one of then was Jackie, who I'd had several trip advisor conversations with. We didn't get a chance to talk with them much, but I do want to hook up with her and ask some questions about another island that they've been to (the name of which has currently slipped from my mind). Shanwda was there with a couple of her friends, Ron and Bonnie were there of course (since Ron is the singer), and Daphne (owner of Besos). The music was great and everyone had a wonderful time.
The day turned out to be mostly cloudy with a good rain just before lunch and then another one just as we were driving to supper. It had cleared off when we drove home, which is always good. These roads don't go mor than a few hundred feet without a hill or a curve in them, so we'll take anything positive for driving conditions. Again today, hardly a breath of wind.
Went to the bake shop for some fresh bread this morning, drove up to the rental office to 1) find out how to work their cell phone, and 2) tell them that their roof has a couples of leaks in the living room. Got the phones figured out and then went to Coxen Hole for a few groceries and a bread knife. Couldn't believe the price here for a bread knife, 25 lempiras which is about $1.25. Beats hacking away on a loaf of bread with a 6" butcher knife. Decided to drive up towards the airport and then take the main road through the entire length of Coxen Hole. All went well until the main street mysteriously became a one way, and that way was not the one that I was driving. The first truck coming down the middle of the road gave me a twirling hand signal that I quickly interpreted. The line of six taxis right behind him were also waving signals.....fortunately the next guy stopped and signaled for me to turn around in front of him instead of trying to back up. Managed a relatively quick turnaround on this street that's about 16 feet wide.....
Pics of the day......none too exciting but:
This is from the deck, looking back along the pathway which comes down from the driveway. Main house entrance is on the right, a stone paved sitting area on the left, and then more steps that lead down to the front of the house where there is some storage, and then eventually out onto the front yard.
Taken from the driveway this morning. Headed out for the morning walk, and there was a cruise ship steaming past. That nice little hill is the road that leads up to the house.
This is a little gecko guy on the deck railing slurping up some hummingbird nectar that had dribbled out of the feeder. They're got pretty big tongues.....There are a lot of them around this year.
Got two dives booked for tomorrow. Good day for that as it is a monster cruise shipper day, something like 9500 passengers tomorrow. Good day to be underwater......
